So where is our focus? Discipline of our thought life and what we feed ourselves spriitually, mentally and emotionally is more critical than the food in our bellies!! Dying to self and following Christ as a servant is also something that requires a whole lot of focus. A mindset for what has eternal value. It's foreign in our culture, but not invisible. There are many who are Salt and Light in the world. Stay strong in the Lord, friends. It is Christ working in you both to will and to do according to His good pleasure. It's all about HIM! But, this morning, I was meditating on these priorities for life:
Be Biblical: verses 3,4 God wrote it He means it.Share it, be pleasing to Him, not men.
Be Authentic: verses 5,6 Remove your mask, enjoy your life. Don’t take yourself too seriously.
Be gracious: verses 7,8Show hospitality, compassion,Comfort, being light-hearted and winsome.
Be Relevant:verses 10,11 Walk the walk in humility, even as Christ did hanging between 2 thieves on a Garbage Heap called Golgotha.
It is the truth of God’s word, welcomed and received, that energizes the heart and mind of believers to be effective for Christ in the world. Spirit-led prayer and faith makes things happen. Believe God today. Let Him energize you for 2010.
I hope you are doing well this evening. I just got home from a "Battle of the Bands" competition in which my son's band was competing along with several others from 5 area school districts.
While my ears are still RINGING I have to say it was a joy to see all these kids focusing their energy on music, on creativity and friendship. And the thought came to me that each of those students was somehow
TRANSFORMED tonight by all they witnessed, and all they heard.
It was a celebration as the students voted for their favorite band, but each
band was now TRANSFORMED to a higher level of recognition, just for
stepping up, taking a risk, applying the best skills they had.

My 13 year old son Lucas reluctantly came downstairs at 8:15 this morning, plopped himself on the couch in our family room, and pulled a blanket up over his head. Balled up in a fetal position, he lay there motionless for a good ten minutes. From my computer desk I greeted him and he grunted from beneath his blanket. A few more minutes passed and I asked if he was ready for breakfast so we could get his day started in cyberschool. He grunted.
Finally, I went over and lifted the blanket to sneak a kiss and a bit of motivation, when Lucas replied, "Mom, that's my thought chamber!" Love it!!
I replied, "Wow! I like that! Keep on thinking!" I hope later he'll share his thoughts.
